For the Tuareg, the desert is freedom. Music is power.

Tuareg nomads have lived in the Sahara Desert for centuries, connecting North and West Africa with their camel caravans. They are fiercely independent and have staged many rebellions, fighting to protect their freedom and territory. From Agadez, Niger, an extraordinary Tuareg guitarist Omara « Bombino » Moctar, uses music to inspire a new generation in adapting to a modern world.

This is the film (produced along with his first album “Agadez”) that helped launch Bombino as a world music star. It begins during his exile to Burkina Faso after the 2007 rebellion, and follows him on his return to Agadez where he celebrated the end of the rebellion with his legendary concert in front of the Grande Mosque of Agadez.

Since the release of his first album, Bombino has toured all over the world, telling the story of his culture and about the magnificent region that he comes from. The film follows him to Nashville in 2012, where his second album, Nomad, was produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, and accelerated his rise as a world music sensation.

Les nomades touaregs vivent dans le désert du Sahara depuis des siècles, reliant l’Afrique du Nord et l’Afrique de l’Ouest avec leurs caravanes de chameaux. Farouchement indépendants, ils ont mené de nombreuses rébellions pour protéger leur liberté et leur territoire. Originaire d’Agadez, au Niger, Omara « Bombino » Moctar, guitariste touareg hors du commun, utilise la musique pour inspirer une nouvelle génération à s’adapter au monde moderne.
C’est le film (produit en même temps que son premier album Agadez) qui a contribué à lancer Bombino en tant que star de la musique mondiale. Il commence pendant son exil au Burkina Faso après la rébellion de 2007 et le suit lors de son retour à Agadez, où il a célébré la fin de la rébellion avec son concert légendaire devant la Grande Mosquée d’Agadez.
Depuis la sortie de son premier album, Bombino a fait des tournées dans le monde entier, racontant l’histoire de sa culture et de la magnifique région dont il est originaire.
